Friday Flash Fun Some stuff I wish I'd known when I started: It seems like a sparse toy at first, compared to something like Incredible Machine. But it's more free-form and the sparseness is a good challenge. You can move the pink object around inside the blue box. The water rod hasn't been of any use to me so far. You can move the view around by using the Move tool.

The collection of ne'er do wells, clueless dolts, political hacks, and oh, let's just be blunt and call them what they are -- total Idiots -- expands into an ever larger circle. While the Republic burns due to the unsavory combination of incompetence, ideological rigidity, and crony capitalism, the fools and assclowns seem ever more determined to avoid any personal responsibility for the damages they have wrought. Instead, they flail about blindly, blaming everything and ...

"That's not capitalism, its not socialism, its not regulation, and its sure as hell isn't what free markets are. Our language is insufficient to describe this hodge-podge system, other than to call it a random patchwork of quasi-capitalism, quadrennial-socialism, and politics as usual. Ideological idiocy is the only phrase I can muster that has any resonance with the daily insanity. "

This was originally posted Thursday evening 07-10-2008 at 10:33 PM, but since it obviously resonated with so many people, I am moving this to Friday morning. Some great comments, too. ~~~ Gee, that didn't take long:"Alarmed by the growing financial stress at the nation’s two largest mortgage finance companies, senior Bush administration officials are considering a plan to have the government take over one or both of the companies and place them in a conservatorship ...

Humans are consuming natural resources so quickly that we're running out of elements. The element gallium is in very short supply and the world may well run out of it in just a few years. Indium is threatened too, says Armin Reller, a materials chemist at Germany's University of Augsburg. He estimates that our planet's stock of indium will last no more than another decade. All the hafnium will be gone by 2017 also, and ...

I’m a big fan of Ferry Halim’s flash games ever since Miss Cellania posted one a while ago, so I’m pleasantly surprised when this one got recommended to Neatorama. Sunny Day Sky is a fun (and easy) Flash game where you get to guide a cute little critter fly jump over cars using only an umbrella! (This being a Ferry Halim game, pleasant music is a given… ) Link - Thanks Nalden!

Richard Esguerra from the Electronic Frontier Foundation sez, After weeks of empty rhetoric about coming to a "compromise" on new spying laws, the House of Representatives is set to vote on telecom immunity tomorrow. The bill is HR 6304 and contains the exact same blanket immunity provisions, only with a few cosmetic changes so that political spin doctors can claim that it actually provides meaningful court review. Whether or not Congress decides to offer immunity ...
