The September/October 2005 issue of The Futurist examines Americans’ use of time. According to the article, the common perception that there just isn’t enough time isn’t supported by the stats from a national study using time-diaries. Basically, the findings show that Americans average 35 hours per week of work time and 35 hours per week of free time. This is much more time than what most Americans perceive. One of the reasons people feel like ...Contribute comment - Gmail - Compose Mail - jcdietrich@gmail.com (1)

Will The Semantic Web Have a Gender? - ReadWriteWeb (46)

One academic warns that it might and says we need to pay attention to it. As machines learn to understand what the web means, what perspective will they understand it from? Who is teaching them? It can be difficult to work with our language, in our culture, with our history, without committing what we termed "subconscious discrimination". This article is concerned about us passing on our "subconscious discrimination" to our thinking machines of tomorrow via the semantic web.
