Turns out PedEgg, a home foot buffer, didn't need to allegedly hire a "horror" makeup artist to increase the contrast in the infomercial's before and after shots. In the September issue, Consumer Reports says the results from their 29 testers indicated the product worked quite well.

Daniel went to his local Safeway with his brother to buy some beer. Daniel had his ID, but his brother didn't—but that's okay, because Daniel was the one buying the beer. The cashier, however, felt otherwise, and wouldn't complete the transaction without carding both of them. The store manager told him "the policy is, at the discretion of the clerk, to check the ID of every person present." The manager hinted that this was a ...

Parents are complaining online that Carter's line of "tagless" baby clothes could be responsible for causing rashes and sores on babies. Instead of a traditional tag on the inside back of the shirt, a "tagless" has a solid silk-screen flat label. Carter's is said to be aware of the problem and that it's limited to their Fall 2007 line of tagless infant clothing. One blogger described the effect the shirt had on her daughter, writing, ...

It's apparently a whole lot of fun to try to get a straight answer out of Tropicana as to what "natural flavors" are in their 100% juice. Reader Kristina says: What follows is a conversation between myself (me) and the customer service (CS) representative from Tropicana. (I called their 1.877.342.1813 number around 9:30 am, EST on 5 September 2008): me: Hi, I am calling to ask about one of your ingredients listed in one of ...

He writes: I have been battling with a silly preconception the federal government has concerning my status as a deceased person, that causes them to routinely shut down credit cards that I am using, and stresses my ability to build credit. (All this despite being actively enlisted in the US Navy)... I have managed to track this anomaly down to TranUnion, ...

SSDs (solid state drives) are great. They’re shock resistant, consume less power, produce less heat, and have very fast seek times. If you have a computer with an SSD, such as an Eee PC, there are some tweaks you can make to increase performance and extend the life of the disk. The simplest tweak is to mount volumes using the noatime option. By default Linux will write the last accessed time attribute to files. This ...
