Pocketnow unboxes Celio's Redfly, a device that acts as a mobile companion to your "small and nimble" Windows mobile device. It is, essentially, a Palm Foleo. Except it isn't. If it were a cheap subnote, it'd be fodder for a lot more attention: it weighs only 2 pounds, has a plain but minimal look to it, two USB ports and VGA out. It's 9 inches long, has an 800x480 8" screen and an 80-key keyboard, ...

Shoppers in the store can now use camera-equipped cellphones (i.e., cellphones) to snap pictures of item barcodes, and then download the information at the checkout when they're finished shopping. ...

We’re one week away from the debut of the 3G iPhone, and the question on everyone’s mind seems to be, “What’s going to happen to the six million first-gen iPhones that are on the fast track to obsolescence?” The iPhone - the ultimate in “cool” for the last twelve months - is about to board the lametrain, and the race is on to unload them before its resale value dips any further. Ztail, the startup ...

Bill Gates has pulled off one of the greatest hacks in technology and business history, by turning Microsoft's success into a force for social responsibility. Imagine imposing a tax on every corporation in the developed world, collecting $100 per white-collar worker per year, and then directing one third of the proceeds to curing AIDS and malaria. That, effectively, is what Bill Gates has done. On a day when everyone will be noting Gates' departure from ...

I read an article this morning highlighting some very peculiar questions regarding how developers interact with customers via the iPhone/iPod Touch App store. I read all of them and the answers seemed so clear that I don’t know why Apple hasn’t answered them officially. Perhaps they will in the next two weeks, or there are some people at EA who might know already. Most likely, Apple hasn’t even thought of this stuff yet and they’ll ...

Filed under: Rumors, App StoreAccording to a few anonymous tips, the iPhone App Store is open and ready for business -- for developers. Apple has opened the App Store to allow registered developers to prepare the final versions of their apps for distribution. Apple has the ultimate say about which apps will appear in the App Store when it launches in early July. The source speculates that larger app developers could get preferential treatment in ...

Deeplinking has collected the paper sketches that gave birth to Twitter, Flickr, Vimeo, Abiword, mySociety, and others. Shown here, an early Twitter (stat.us) sketch, from Jack Dorsey's Flickr stream.
