Keeping with tradition, the best seats at the Democratic National Convention are reserved for the presidential nominee's home state delegates. Dems Feeling Unintended Consequences of Foreign Oil Rhetoric (2)

Here's a challenge: find a poltician who currently campaigns on energy issues and doesn't promise to end U.S. dependence on foreign oil. I doubt it's possible. The rhetorical drumbeat for and promises to achieve "energy independence" have gotten louder and more frequent. Yet it has become more and more clear that such a goal is unachievable and also complicates efforts to minimize dependence on oil altogether, which is where our policy ought to be taking ...Shared by paulsmith (5) Pete (2)- Pete said: I couldn't agree more. The convention bounce is one of the more vexing problems in presidential forecasting. That is particularly so this year. Both conventions are being held late -- the Democratic convention dates are the latest since at least 1952 for the challenging party, and the Republicans' are the latest since at least 1952 for the incumbent party. Moreover, the conventions are being held right on top of one another, with just one week of separation between them. ...Shared by Chung (111) paulsmith (5)Contribute comment -

Of course, intelligence must emerge from the workings of the three-pound mass of wetware packed inside our skulls.
