Not a new idea here, but it was still fun to make. While in NYC last week, I spoke at the Boards Summit. They asked if Andrew Bell and I would give a talk on Processing. I made the following demo because I wanted an easy way to showcase what Processing can handle in real-time and also wanted a way to segue into showing off a couple audio-visual pieces I made a while back. I ...

NEC LCD Technologies have managed to successfully roll out multiple sizes (A3 and A4 equivalent) of electronic paper (e-paper) modules thanks to the microcapsule electrophoresis system. This electrophoresis system uses white pigment particles electrified with positive electrodes, while black pigment particles are electrified with negative electrodes. Matt has a nice post on delaying JavaScript execution in a way that waits for certain events to finish: If you're looking to execute javascript code whenever someone finishes (or stops temporary) scrolling, moving the mouse, or resizing the page, you may find the following segment of code useful. I have seen some of the great applications that SitePen produces, but unfortunately too many of them are for companies behind the firewalls. It is great to see Sensei a really compelling Dojo application that SitePen wrote for their training class. This isn't one of those simple training examples that you normally get though. This says quality. Revin Guillen explains: When conducting Dojo training courses, we’ve found it to be very valuable to go beyond ...

Michael Isikoff, writing for Newsweek, has a story on Palin-McCain’s efforts to stonewall the Alaska investigation in which Palin had previously promised cooperation. The team McCain sent up north appears to have had obstruction on its mind more than the thorough vetting previously thought. (Or, maybe they found something they really didn’t like in the course of the post-selection vetting, hard telling.) One major reason the probe is so sensitive is that it raises the ...

Despite wanting desperately to watch The Dark Knight, I still haven't gotten a chance to rush out to my nearest movie theater and bask myself in the two-or-so-hours of nerdgasmic delight I know is waiting for me. So as the stellar reviews pour in from the papers and from friends, I need to find creative ways to scratch that Batman itch. Like papercraft! Here's an amazing Batmobile Tumbler design created by paper model expert Claudio. ...
