Amazon CloudFront: Outlook for CDN Is Cloudy (and That's Good) (25)
on
ReadWriteWeb (113) permalink
Two months ago, Amazon - which has taken to sharing some of its massive computing power with mere mortals as a means of developing additional revenue streams - announced that they were developing a content-delivery network (CDN) to complement their existing Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) offering. Today, they unveiled the beta version of that service, named Amazon CloudFront. Boasting a now-familiar, pay-as-you-go pricing model, Amazon CloudFront promises to make CDN an affordable addition for ...Shared by AJ Batac (4) Andrew (0) CharlieWhiskey (0) cheewu (0) Dan Delphin (0) Daniel (0) Eric (0) Gary (2) Jeremy (0) kcearns (0) Marshall Sponder (0) Michael (8) Mike Levin (107) mvexel (0) Nicolas Perriault (0) Oncle Tom (2) Peat (0) pereticnr1 (2) Peter v (0) Roberto Castro (0) RomanZolotarev (0) Roy (0) Seb (0) spidaman (0) sushi (7)Contribute comment -
How Social Media Helped Obama Win (92)

Where there’s victory, there’s also opportunity… This Presidential election was profound in its results. Obama won both the Electoral College vote 364 to 163 and the popular vote 53% to 46% with roughly 120,000,000 votes cast. This election was the first in 50 years, in which there was no incumbent President or Vice President from either party competing for the Presidential nomination. Non-Profit Org Claims Rights In Library Catalog Data (6)

Slashdot (96) permalink
lamona writes "The main source of the bibliographic records that are carried in library databases is a non-profit organization called OCLC. Over the weekend OCLC "leaked" its new policy that claims contractual rights in the subsequent uses of the data, uses such as downloading book information into Zotero or other bibliographic software. The policy explicitly forbids any use that would compete with OCLC. This would essentially rule out the creation of free and open databases ...- esther said: wth is oclc thinking?
