Having matchmaking issues with Gears of 2? Epic's got your back. A patch has been released that (should) fix the agonising wait times encountered during matchmaking, as well as a few other bits and pieces. Other tweaks include fixing the issue where people couldn't access their SP campaign if Live was down and improvements to Epic's stat-gathering process. If you don't already have the update, you'll be prompted to download it next time you fire ...

Mac OS X only: If you've been waiting patiently for the popular BitTorrent application, uTorrent, to find its way to your Mac, your wait is finally over: uTorrent for the Mac is officially available. We've been waiting for the Mac release for a while now, and leaks of the beta had already made their rounds on BitTorrent sites (how apropos), but the official release (Intel Macs only at the moment) of the most popular BitTorrent ...

OpenID has had a lot of big supporters, but this week President Elect Barack Obama's Change.gov added the ability for users to log in using an OpenID account and to post comments to sections of the website using OpenID. That's big news and is going to introduce a whole lot of people to the concept of federated identity. Every other major player that has announced support for OpenID has in fact only allowed accounts with ...

The New Xbox Experience lets you install 360 games onto your HDD. Great news for anyone - like myself - who gets DISC READ ERRORS as often as the sun both rises and sets. But chances are, unless you splurged and bought yourself an Elite, or are new to the 360 world and own a 60GB unit, you have a 20GB HDD. And for you, space is at a premium. So you need to know ...

We can only imagine that at least a few staffers over at Art Lebedev Studios get paid to do nothing but conjure up ideas, because this one is just marvelous. And marvelously simple, but that's beside the point. The Luxofor traffic light concept improves upon a nearly archaic design that still relies on spherical fixtures when there's really no need. Lebedev's team asserts that using square lights backed with bright laser diodes would make better ...

This amazing mod crams an entire Nintendo Entertainment System from the 80s into one of it's cartridges complete with power and reset buttons, controller ports and composite video and audio output jacks. This is equivalent to the gaming version of the "clown car" where there is so much stuffed into such a small physical area that it's pretty hard to understand how this could work. via Technabob Read more | Permalink | Comments | Read ...

Two weeks ago it was reported that Steven Spielberg was developing a remake of Chan-wook Park’s Oldboy, with Will Smith attached to star. Apparently that isn’t exactly 100% true. Our friends at Film School Rejects got a chance to speak with Smith, who clarified that the movie would not be a remake of Park’s 2003 film. “We’re looking at that right now. Not the film though, it’s the original source material,” Smith told FSR. “There’s ...

Disagree with Google's search results? You'll be able to do something about it with a change the company plans to release starting Thursday. Google's SearchWiki is a feature that lets people elevate, delete, add, and annotate search results. Google remembers the changes a person made to search results, so repeat searches will show the same customizations and notes. Google has been offering SearchWiki as an experimental feature to some people for months, but starting Thursday ...

According to a report by Wired's Meghan Keane, YouTube is testing stereo sound as a default option for videos and is also offering very high quality HD versions of a small selection of clips. We weren't able to find a lot of videos that were encoded in the 720p HD format, but it is important to note that this is different from the 'watch in high quality' option YouTube already offers, which only features a ...

While last night's story from USA Today is all well and good, we prefer to get our news about the upcoming The Lost and Damned DLC for the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV directly from Rockstar itself. Why? Because the Rockstar official press release is free from any journalistic meanderings, and it comes with nice, lovely, giant-sized screenshots of the content and a nice white logo we can put on top of ...

De beslissing is ingegeven door de manier waarop klanten hebben gereageerd op het nieuws, onder meer in een topic op GoT. "Ons webrelationsteam, dat onder meer o...

While the NXE's ability to let you install 360 games to your HDD is mostly a good thing (no more disc read errors at my house), it's been revealed that there's a few hiccups. You'd think that copying a game to your 360's hard drive would speed things up. Faster load times, that kind of thing. But in some cases it doesn't. Especially when it comes to Halo 3. Tests have already shown the game ...

A USA Today report is the setting for the announcement of Grand Theft Auto IV's long-awaited piece of downloadable content. Titled "Lost and Damned", the DLC will be available on February 19, and will leave Niko's story behind (though he will make a few cameo appearances) to follow the exploits of Johnny Klebitz, a member of the Lost biker gang that the game's radio channels liked to talk about so much. Wikimedia CTO Brion Vibber(Credit: Rafe Needleman / CNET) What is the significance of Sun Microsystems' announcement Wednesday that Wikimedia is buying truckloads of Sun servers? It's that the Wikimedia team, which runs Wikipedia, Wikinews, Wikibooks, and other sites, is gearing up to change the nature of the reference services. Wikipedia, in particular, is going to get a lot more visual. Limits on the size of upload files will be increased to 100MB. Video--hosted by Wikimedia--will ...

Welcome to my third annual post on new media for the Half-Life fan-created remake Black Mesa (formerly known as Black Mesa: Source).
