Windspire vertical turbine on sale now, aiming to capture the consumer wind power market (4)
on
Engadget (254) permalink
We've covered plenty of wind turbines over the years, but most tend to be awfully conceptual or rather unsuited to consumer applications. Being eco-geeks at heart we're happy to report on a new one that is both consumer-friendly and in production now. Mariah Power's Windspire is a 9 meter tall vertical turbine intended for residential or commercial installation, capable of providing about a quarter of the power an "average" household needs (2000 kWh annually). It's ...Contribute comment -

Modding your laptop to add a touchscreen is certainly possible, though you'll need to be pretty competent with tools: with the Duo gizmo all you need to be able to do is clip it to your screen. The two-piece device has a sensor you pop on top of your monitor or laptop screen and a wireless pen sensor—in combination they can give you that tablet-PC-alike pen-control performance you may have been yearning for, though only ...Contribute comment -

A NY Times Magazine article by Heidi Julavits describes a problem I have run across a few times: incorrect foreign-language equivalents. The New Year’s Eve dinner party in question has since gone down in our family annals as the Night of the Great Spelt Screw-Up. 30 Compelling Works of Color Monochromatic Photography (15)
on
WebUrbanist (38) permalink
(source: fornal) When most people think about monochrome photography (or monotone photography for that matter), they immediately jump to black & white or grayscale. That’s not to say that they’re wrong, since monochrome photography most often does refer to capturing three-dimensional spaces in two-dimensional black-and-white, but by doing so they are limiting their options. Monochrome simply means ‘of one color’, and what that color ends up being, is entirely up to you. Here are some ...Shared by adam (11) Carl (21) DermDoc (Jeff) (27) Douglas L. When it comes to staircases, most architects stick to the basics, putting safety and stability before aesthetics. But others strive to have both, and in some cases, their creations become the focal point of a room - more art installation than functional architectural element. Stairs made of glass seemingly float on air, and innovative wooden creations serve as book storage and seating. These stair designs that go far beyond the basic, becoming works of art, ...Shared by Abhi (1) adam (11) adam (72) Adam Cook (1) Alex (7) Alfonso Martinez (0) Carl (21) chris (0) Chris H (1) db (14) Deborah Petersen (127) derek markham (90) DermDoc (Jeff) (27) hanzahar (0) homaid (0) jack (0) jason o (52) Jeff (47) Leena (120) lindenb (2) Mahesh Basantani (2) Marissa (4) MCK2007 (13) miasarmento (6) Miz Helena (0) Muhammad Saleem (51) Nathan (0) Nicolas Roberge (2) noel (2) NomadRip (3) nparker13 (27) pala (0) Russell (0) Sun Tzu (117) Susana Machado (1) sushaantu (0) Toby (26) Victor Barrera (96) Will (3) william barnes (1) Yvette (0)- pala said: 富有想象力的楼梯设计
