LCD screens are unique and modern in style, and the liquid crystals that make them work have allowed us to create slimmer, more portable technology than we ever before. From wrist watch to laptop are all only possible because of their thin, light LCD display screens. Liquid crystal display (LCD) technology still has some bumpers in its path that can make it unreliable at times, but on the whole, the invention of the LCD screen ...

Korean designer Jin Woo Han recently worked up a brilliant concept design for what he calls the Snow Mobile Portable PC Theater. The all-in-one device would allow you to easily carry your desktop PC with you anywhere and then project computer-to-screen information onto any surface by simply detaching the unit's projector hood casing. Han goes on to detail the computer's various ergonomic marvels including an artfully concealed keyboard, speaker set, CD/DVD player and docking port. ...

The 802.11n standard for Wi-Fi may still be technically a draft specification, but the IEEE has now completed the 802.11r specs, making a new standard for Wi-Fi roaming. Why should you care about this? It's designed for those moments when a Wi-Fi-connected device moves between hotspots, something the original 802.11 specs didn't have in mind. Typically a transition between spots involves a drop and re-associate delay of around 0.1 seconds, which is enough to drop ...

From there, your music is streamed wirelessly at a distance up to 25-meters to up to 20 of the boxy, 2.4GHz speakers. The 4x battery (AA, presumably) speakers feature a nice to touch, "softtouch" coating, individual volume controls, and line-in for connecting audio sources directly. ...

The Online Tech Tips site offers up a great tip for anyone reinstalling XP off something other than their original CD—such as a slipstreamed and automated installation—or lacking a net connection to run the activation. Before wiping your system clean, grab a file named WPA.DBL from the System32 directory and save it to a thumb drive or other external media. When you load up your new system, skip registration, enter "Safe Mode" from the boot ...

In a presentation made at Nvidia's NVISION show this week, Adam and Jamie unveiled a 1100 barrel paintball gun and—in an instant—painted a pretty convincing (if not slightly drippy) Mona Lisa. In typical MythBusters fashion, the incredibly elaborate experiment was only tenuously linked to their hypothesis. The presentation was intended to represent the difference in operation between single and multicore processors, referring to current gen CPUs versus GPUs, respectively. Of course, the reality of parallel ...

Neatorama dug up this 1:1 scale speeder, which has a custom aluminum chassis, fiberglass body, and an electric drive system that hits lightspeed at 25 mph (UPDATED: with gallery). The art detail is also pretty amazing (and reeks of authenticity), with body work and fake damage consistent with the landspeeder in the film. ...
