Windows/Mac/Linux/iPhone: TweetDeck, the Twitter client that helps cut through social noise, has unleashed a clever version of its popular multi-column app for iPhones, as well as made it easy to synchronize columns and work with multiple Twitter accounts. The column synchronization is a smart move, considering many fans of TweetDeck's increasingly popular desktop client are likely to try out the iPhone and iPod touch version and not want to have to add in all their ...

Probably the best iphone app for twitter since it allows groups and easy flipability to switch between them. one advantage that the iphone/IPT will definitely have over the Zune HD is it's market saturation. There are already so many iphone's in the world and when a popular site or desktop app looks at making a handheld version, they're going to go for the iphone first since it has the largest install base. Still, the Zune HD MAY have Xbox Live Arcade games which may be all some people want it to do. I know from my experience, the best games on IPT all have great graphics and are perfect for that quick, handheld gaming experience. Yet, I spend the most time on using non-game apps like Stanza Book Reader, Bookshelf reader, Pandora, Simplify Music Streamer, TwitterFon, and now the MLB app.

Well, here's a nice start to what Jeff Bezos was saying about giving the Kindle reader team some competition: Amazon just released source code for all its Kindle devices. It's fairly basic Linux underneath (kernel 2.6.22 on the latest 2.1 software), but obviously includes E Ink drivers and other relevant hardware support. What's unclear without compiling one of these and booting it up (to our untrained eyes, anyway) is whether Amazon stripped out its various ...

Attention, ergonomics buffs: an advisory recently published by Queensland University of Technology is predicting a rash of injuries as a result of users straining to get a clear look at Apple's "high gloss" screens, and the ergonomically unsound postures and positions that result. If you should find yourself in possession of one of these "torture displays" (as we think Apple should refer to them in their advertising from now on), Queensland Tech offers many suggestions ...

Interruptions can really disrupt your workflow. You spend time dismissing or addressing the person doing the interrupting, and then on regaining your focus. Earbuds, even those not playing anything, are a sneaky defense. Photo by scot63us. While sharing the contents of his laptop bag, The How-To Geek noted that he doesn't mind his basic earbuds, because the real purpose isn't fantastic audio, but simply drowning out his noisy coworkers with some tunes. Have tried that too. Doesn't really work. I'm convinced that the only thing that would work is to have a completely unplugged office in the Antarctic somewhere. Of course, that one user who can't understand the plain English request to not interrupt you would rent a boat and a snowmobile just to track you down and pester you about the most inane thing they can think up. I wonder how much land in Antarctica is going for these days.
