Aside: The New Yorker (2)
permalinkI suppose it goes without saying that everyone is, by now, familiar with the following image: Figure 1: Get over it It appears that damn near everyone in the country is upset about this cover except me and the The New Yorker’s Editor (and, of course, whoever drew the damn thing). In fact, when I first saw the cover, I laughed so hard I damn near crapped my pants. First of all, the fucking thing ...Shared by chimeric (68) phrakture (46)Contribute comment

Little Brother (2)
on Andreas Gohr: Weblog [splitbrain.org] (24) permalinkAs you can see in my “currently reading” section on the right, I'm currently reading Cory Doctorow's "Little Brother". I haven't read a book for a long time that moved me as much as this one. The name is obviously a play on the omnipresent “Big Brother” from George Orwell's 1984. Like Orwell's book, “Little Brother” is a dystopian novel describing a not too distant future. What’s Little Brother about? Marcus, a.k.a “w1n5t0n,” is only ...Shared by chimeric (68) Mic (32)Contribute comment

Germans don’t know how to make sandwiches (2)
on Nothing For Ungood (13) permalinkGermans will tell you that Americans don’t know how to make bread, but their tragic flaw is much worse; Germans don’t know how to make sandwiches. Germans have over the years learned to eat hamburgers and will even franchise American hamburger chains to garner access to our precious burger recipes. And now Germany even features that most mediocre of fast food franchises, Subway, because Germans are desperately seeking to acquire the key knowledge required to ...Shared by chimeric (68) phrakture (46)Contribute comment

Cruel Super Mario World hack (8)
on Hackszine.com (97) permalinkKaizo Mario is a homebrew level for Super Mario World that's equal parts evil and genius. My tolerance for frustration isn't nearly high enough to be able to handle this, but for those of you looking for a gaming challenge, there's a link to the ROM below. You can make your own custom levels for Super Mario World with a graphical level editor called Lunar Magic. You'll need a Windows PC and the original SNES ...Shared by Andreas (22) chimeric (68) geekgrrl (87) John (13) Mr. Pants (21) muchio (33) Rob M (34) SugarSmax (33)
