Office Snapshots has posted a picture of the clever sign hanging on the door of Twitter’s old office. The sign was posted by the office’s current inhabitants, customer service startup Get Satisfaction. Twitter switched offices in early July, and the move seems to have done them well. Since then the service has been unusually stable, with relatively few periods of downtime - though this may be on account of the functionality that seems to be ...

You know how easy it is to interact with websites through email. For instance, you can upload photos to Flickr, publish blogs on Tumblr, add tasks to your To Do list in Remember The Milk, upload files to Google Docs, save notes in Evernote, send videos to YouTube, convert documents .. and so much more with a simple email message. Each of these services provide you with a secret (and often impossible to remember) email ...

So you thought turning off all those TV’s using TV-B-Gone at CES was a stupid prank by Gizmodo? Me, too, but as it turn it, it was really harmless compared to the Polish boy, who converted a TV remote and derailed a tram, causing 12 injuries. But in hindsight, that was just a benign trick, too. VentureBeat reports of a “collaborative academic effort where medical device security researchers have figured out how to turn off ...

There are two dictionaries on my system that contain almost identical words & spelling corrections but are stored in different locations and maintained separately. Words like "PowerPoint", "Gmail", "AdSense", "YouTube", etc. exist in both dictionaries but one is created through Firefox while Windows Live Writer is responsible for the second one. That means lot of duplicate effort because if you add the word "Facebook" to Firefox dictionary, it would still be marked as incorrect inside ...

While this image may be doctored, I want to believe it's real. First, many people has custom carrier logos. Then, after all the publicity the $999 I'm Rich app got everywhere, it's not weird it had 340 reviews. But what really wins this for me is the desperate tone in the review from the guy who actually bought the application, saying the application is a scam: THIS IS NO JOKE...DO NOT BUY THIS APP AND ...

Filed under: TransportationAh, Black Hat. How we adore you. Each year there's always one speaker who shows up and completely undermines something that most people assume is rock solid. This year, our pals at Hack-A-Day were in attendance to hear Nate Lawson expose California's FasTrak toll system for the security hole that it is. Essentially, toll transponders that are purchased and slapped onto vehicles offer up exactly no authentication, meaning that anyone with an ill ...

After all the stupidity and charade surrounding the GOP’s attack on Obama –including this lampooning by Stephen Colbert — for proposing a common sense approach to increasing fuel efficiency, McCain is forced to admit that it’s a pretty good idea. Reuters: The surprise came during a telephone town hall meeting McCain held on Tuesday with voters in Pennsylvania. “Obama said a couple of days ago says we all should inflate our tires. I don’t disagree ...

Here’s a short list of the diverse hacks, mashups and projects that I realized within the last weeks (you never know who’s reading ;-): Friendfeed Friendfeed’s Six Degrees: FF6° displays some information about your network on Friendfeed. How many friends-of-friends do you have? What are the most influential nodes in your network? The program allows exporting the network data in Pajek and GraphML format. Twitter Twisaster: Hurricanes, bomb blasts and earthquake live alerts on Twitter. ...
