How "EOM" Makes Your Email More Efficient [Email] (124)
on Lifehacker (6610) permalinkYesterday, I sent a quick email to let people know what time I was arriving on site. It was something simple like: "Brad will be there at 9:30AM. Thanks! EOM". Within seconds a reply came back "What does EOM mean?" In my smartypants way I responded: "End of message. Used it to save you the time of opening the message and having to reply, which by virtue of you replying has defeated its purpose. OSCON day 1: An Open Source Project Called "Failure:" Community Antipatterns to Know and Avoid (17)
on O'Reilly Radar - Insight, analysis, and research about emerging technologies (306) permalinkThe second session of the day that really appealed to me was "An Open Source Project Called "Failure:" Community Antipatterns to Know and Avoid". When I saw that Ben and Fitz of subversion fame were joined by other open source heavy weights, I was sold on this panel. In this panel each member presented one anti-pattern in open source project, where an anti-pattern is a negative pattern that projects should aim to avoid. Featured Download: Calgoo Goes Free, Syncs Desktop Calendars with Google Calendar (88)
on Lifehacker: Top (14) permalinkWindows/Mac OS X only: Online and desktop calendar-syncing application Calgoo Connect—along with all of the other calendar tools available from Calgoo—are now free. Calgoo Connect syncs Outlook on Windows or iCal on OS X with popular online calendars, namely Google Calendar and 30 Boxes. Granted, syncing Gcal with Outlook is pretty well covered with previously mentioned Google Calendar Sync, but Mac users haven't had a free solution for Gcal-to-iCal sync, which makes the free offering ...Shared by adam (39) Adrian L (36) Alec Peden (131) alldrin (12) Andrew (155) Aranyx (0) Art (201) Bart Mroz (4) Ben (24) Brandon (0) Breyten (22) Brian (21) Brian (39) buxx (14) Casey (46) Christopher (2) Compuwizard123 (115) Crazy Carl (3) Daniel Dočekal (8) Darren (61) Darren Barefoot (42) David (25) Davis S (81) diffus (2) DigitalMike (90) Erik (84) foxmachia (87) Franzel (0) ghassem (72) gnusic (196) Hasan (109) idschray (9) Ingar (3) Inman (0) James (4) James Dorminey (29) JAMES TUCKER (9) Jan Vazquez (35) Jason Allen (7) Jeffrey (40) jimmysessions (0) joel (23) Johan (7) Jon (27) Jon Erickson (28) Jonas (0) Jonathan Sterling (91) Kelly (0) kliger (17) lewis (24) Library (0) lisamac (25) Marco Gomes (19) Mat (48) mbrannig (9) Michael (1) Mr. Matt (27) nok (6) nparker13 (453) Ozmandias (13) Peli (20) Peter (41) Petre (13) Program Witch (34) Rahul Gaitonde (32) Randy (48) Rascator (3) rkj (10) Rob (12) robie1373 (13) sascha (17) Saul (18) sean h (43) Shawn F (12) Simone (35) StevieB (79) Todd Lohenry (79) Topka (7) Travis Roy (30) Trey (27) trinkers (16) yamahito (1) Yang Jing (6) Yerameyahu (0) Yinka (33) Zaki (112) Zephir (53) zSAPping (9)Explore read four notes

Toshiba working on netbook/UMPC that's actually interesting (15)
on Engadget (3204) permalinkFiled under: Handhelds, Laptops We're almost totally over the whole netbook craze, but Toshiba's latest prototype shows there's still interesting things possible, even if it isn't a traditional laptop. The 5.6-inch touchscreen handheld runs Vista on Intel's Atom processor with a 64GB SSD and a GPS chip -- which like an awfully expensive setup, but Toshiba says they're aiming for netbook pricing. Of course, that means almost nothing, since netbooks are all over the map ...Shared by Andrew (51) Ankur (25) Brad (15) fyc (50) History of Blogging (293) Jeff Woelker (1) John Magnus (146) Jonas (0) Panda (0) Pete (93) rchk (70) Robert Scoble (239) rzklkng (345) Satya (43) Tax Man (6)Contribute comment

Krill Oil 48x Better Than Fish Oil? (21)
on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss (75) permalinkKrill isn’t your average shrimp. (Photo: The Sun and Doves) Krill oil, logically enough, comes from krill, which are small, shrimp like crustaceans that inhabit the cold ocean areas of the world, primarily the Antarctic and North Pacific Oceans. Despite their small size–one to five centimeters in length–krill make up the largest animal biomass on the planet. According to Neptune Technologies, the Canadian company that holds the patent for krill oil extraction, there are approximately ...Shared by Ben Corman (21) Brian (39) Chris.
Shared by Jonas (0)Contribute comment

Are You a Productivity Hobbyist? [Anti-Hacks] (38)
on Lifehacker (6610) permalinkEditor: Welcome guest writer Clay Collins, author of The Alternative Productivity Manifesto. Let's face it: if you've spent much time in the productivity blogosphere, then 100 more motivation hacks, 50 more Firefox plug-ins, and additional GTD system tweaks probably aren't going to make you that much more productive. There's a point of diminishing returns when it comes to productivity advice. Photo by Andy Ciordia. If, month after month, you continue searching for the latest tip, ...
