Did Google Just Expose Semantic Data in Search Results? - ReadWriteWeb (146)

ReadWriteWeb (10804) permalink
In what appears to us to be a new addition to many Google search results pages, queries about birth dates, family connections and other information are now being responded to with explicitly semantic structured information. Who is Bill Clinton's wife? What's the capital city of Oregon? What is Britney Spears' mother's name? The answers to these and other factual questions are now displayed above natural search results in Google and the information is structured in ...Shared by a77ila (144) Abhi (26) Aden Davies (11) Ajit Chouhan (59) Akhmad Fathonih (28) Alexandre Gamela (53) andraz (48) Andrei Neculau (41) AndrewTerry (40) Andy (17) Andy Beal (50) Angelos (49) Antonis Lilis (78) Aspi (46) Atul Arora (230) Azeem (33) Ben Z (3) bethesdafrog (19) Billy Fairchild (23) Brent (21) Brian Junyor (32) Brian kenyon (2) Brooke Adcox (10) C.K. The NFL's Yellow Line Explained [Clips] (41)

The computer generated yellow line that indicates the first down has changed the way we watch football forever. But its implementation is a multi-stepped process involving dozens of technologies working in precise tandem. From optical sensors to audio transmissions, the heaviest lifting is probably done by the color filters that, year after year, become better and better at differentiation the line from the linebacker. This brief video will do a lot to make you appreciate ...Shared by Adam (51) Andrew [j.Mac] (18) Andy Kaplan-Myrth (44) Anthony (26) arturopelayo (62) Billy Fairchild (23) Brenton (35) Charles Hudson (28) chesty (25) chewbocka (45) Christopher Masiello (48) coolmunk (36) Danny Rain (51) Dano (26) eduardo omine (36) Elton (50) Gareth (37) Ismael (6) Jacob (26) Jake (18) Jay (39) Jeff Harris (16) Jefferson (15) Kafu (17) Keck (23) Kevin Quickle (2) Kim (49) Maggie (21) Mike (5) Mike Fruchter (873) Nate (29) nparker13 (125) Patrick Fitzgerald (6) patrickj (88) Poynter Institute (1) Ray Capone (82) Rich Hintz (92) Roseanne (12) Sean Hellwig (5) Trey (79) vince (41)- Andy Kaplan-Myrth said: This is something I wonder about every time I see football on TV (which is admittedly not very often). Picasa Released for Mac, At Long Last [Señorita Pabla Picasa] (5)

If you ever wondered how they get up there to fix those giant wind turbines, here's the answer: Helicopters. And absofreakingnuttely crazylala mechanics. That's an Eurocopter EC135, which is being used by Bond Air Services to do windmill farm maintenance in the United Kingdom. I'm sure they stop the windmill before going up—unless the stop mechanism is the thing that is broken—but looking a the scale of that little man going down, it's quite scary ...Shared by Aaron (62) Billy Fairchild (23) chesty (25) darkeye11547 (253) Jason R. Some Xbox 360 mods are the product of serious craftsmanship, some are rather silly, and some -- like this Suzuki automobile console / Xbox 360 game console hybrid -- really give one pause. On December 14th, Sean L. Hawkins Jr. walked out of Prince George's County Jail in Maryland on his own recognizance. He immediately carjacked a Toyota 4Runner because he "needed a ride home from jail." The 22-year-old, six-foot-tall, 300 Lb Hawkins had been arrested and tossed in the slammer after assaulting his own mother, but the judge let him loose when a court date was assigned. Obviously Sean couldn't call his mom, but instead of getting ...
