Despite the fact that males have long accounted for the majority of online gamers, there is a surprising shortage of casual online games directed at men aged 25-45. Beyond fantasy football and online poker there is little variety, with nearly every game failing to take advantage of advanced graphics or any interactivity beyond clicking “all-in”. World Golf Tour is looking to fill this gap. The site has launched a free, full-featured Flash game that offers ...

Journalists should be thinking about their online work as much or more than their print work. At this point, it’s job security—develop a personal brand online by pursuing good entrepreneurial journalism, and you’ll become an extremely valuable asset to any newspaper. The more you propagate your work after you’ve written it, the more people are going to come to know your name, the bigger your personal audience will be, and the more leverage you’ll have ...

SmartMoney contributor Jack Hough explains why he believes renting makes more financial sense than buying a home. The short version of his argument: "Businesses are great investments while houses are poor ones, so I'd rather rent the latter and own the former." The article supports that thesis with numbers, comparing the difference in value after inflation of houses versus stocks. As we work through the housing crisis and stare down the barrel of a significant ...

Windows (with iTunes, WinAmp, or KMPlayer): Free plug-in tool MiniTube hunts down music videos from Flash-based video sites and plays them along with your tunes. MiniTube's signature feature is the ability to play the video synced up to your local MP3—in other words, lip-synced to wherever you are in the song when the video starts playing. Its video accuracy depends, of course, on the accuracy of YouTube uploaders (and the video's copyright status), but you ...

More than almost any application I've ever used, Propel Professional has a huge number of features, concepts, and customizations. But is it too overwhelming to use? I certainly won't be able to cover every aspect of this power house, but let's take a peek at some of the key uses of this application to see whether or not it's truly useful, and necessary.

Finally, Sprint Centro users will be able to take advantage of location approximation. Palm has released the 1.07 version upgrade for Sprint Centros. Combined with a new version of Google maps, you will now be able to approximate your location to assist with Google lookups, etc.The update also brings some speed and usability enhancements to VersaMail, Bluetooth, IM, Sprint TV, and will allow PRL updates over the air (yeah - about time for that one).Check ...

PalmPowerups reports good news for many Palm users. Treo and Centro users can already access SDHC cards allowing storage all the way to 32GB currently. However, other Palm users have been left out in the cold since the Palm OS for those devices has been limited to SD cards only. And that means 2GB maximums. PalmPowerups has released a free beta driver to allow these Palm devices to access SDHC cards. In addition to the ...

The new 3G iPhone is impressive, but it's not the new hardware that is the most exciting aspect. After all, both Palm and RIM have (or soon will have) competing hardware platforms containing GPS, Wifi, Bluetooth, and high speed network access. In the case of Palm and RIM they even have actual keyboards. So if the iPhone does achieve market dominance it will likely be due to the software available. The App store in iTunes ...
