Dear Lulu : A test of digital printing. (15)
on Speak Up (71) permalinkIt's funny how things change. Five years ago I wouldn't have given second thought to producing print material with digital printing. No, only offset printing. The thought of a brochure, annual report or catalog printed as if it had come out of Kinko's — excuse me, FedEx Office — was just unbearable and even the much-hyped and pushed feature of individual customization — Dear Jon, from Chicago, IL 60660… — didn't seem to be much ...Shared by Ben (27) Brandon (85) Chris Glass (26) Crompton (21) Jake (18) Jake (26) Jeffrey (24) Kyle (44) Linkletter (28) Peter H (89) Preoccupations (114) Rob Knight (12) Stefan Hayden (81) Superbunker (57) wyclif (71)

Forbes misses the point of the 4-day work week (65)
on Signal vs. Noise (3236) permalinkThere’s a piece in Forbes called Why A Four-Day Work Week Doesn’t Work that suggests: But there are serious drawbacks. Packing 40 hours into four days isn’t necessarily an efficient way to work. Many people find that eight hours are tough enough; requiring them to stay for an extra two could cause morale and productivity to decrease. As for saving on the cost of commuting, it likely isn’t true. The article is right: More hours ...Shared by Aadom The Wygle (42) Aaron (33) Ben Parr (39) Benjamin Golub (72) Bojan (32) Carlos Villela (41) Carri (20) Chris (208) chrishathaway (13) Chu Yeow (41) Chuck LeDuc (47) cmm324 (24) Darrin (22) dobata (871) Dr. Ernie (155) Enkrates (39) Eoin (70) Galtenbergs (69) glongman (44) guynameddave (32) hober (79) iuri (24) Jana (110) Jason (38) Jeff Daly (165) Jeffrey (24) Johannes (30) John (46) John F. - Chuck LeDuc said: The point of the 4-day work week is about doing less work.
- Galtenbergs said: The point of the 4-day work week is about doing less work. It’s not about 4 10-hour days for the magical 40-hour work week. It’s about 4 normalish 8-hour days for the new and improved 32-hour work week. The numbers are just used to illustrate a point. Results, not hours, are what matter, but working longer hours doesn’t translate to better results. The law of diminishing returns kicks in quick when you’re overworked.

Ask 37signals: Voting with your wallet? (12)
on Signal vs. Noise (3236) permalinkBret asks: I often see people on forums telling complainers to shut up with the “vote with your wallet” line. How does 37signals feel on the matter? Is it better to have a vocal customer who’s willing to stick with the product despite a perceived shortcoming or would you prefer that such a customer move on? The first thing I’d say is this: It’s tough to be 100% happy with anything. Quote of the month: Tim O’Reilly on journalism (3)
on scottberkun.com (100) permalinkWhat journalists do, which many bloggers have yet to learn, is to consult multiple sources and do fact checking before blurting out a story. Pandora may pull the plug on itself (27)
on The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) (5473) permalinkFiled under: Analysis / OpinionThe Washington Post is reporting that Pandora, the Internet radio station available on Mac, iPhone, and iPod touch, may be shutting down service soon. The reason is that Sound Exchange, the money-grubbing blackmailers royalties collection arm affiliated with the Recording Industry Association of America, has imposed restrictive administrative fees ($500 per year per channel) and ridiculous royalty fees (2.91 cents per hour per listener) on Internet radio stations.
