The CW Television Network is readying a pilot that will delve into Robin's experiences before he became Batman's sidekick. The show, titled The Graysons, will portray Dick "DJ" Grayson during his formative years as he deals with girlfriends, rivals and family problems, Variety reports. Executive-produced by Terminator: Salvation director McG, the show was hatched by Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson, who deal with the early years of Superman as showrunners for the CW's Smallville series. ...

FAKE Michael Bay has joined Twitter. Here are some of his twittering highlights: Shia is crying less today. Fine, I’ll use your stupid IMAX cameras. Went to the bathroom and took a giant dump. A dump of excellence. God I’m Awesome. Boom. That’s it. That’s all you need to know. Got stuck looking in the mirror again. Just a half hour this time. @slashfilm No, I don’t know who “Fellini” is and quite frankly I ...

Broken Social Scene with all hands on deck could be a tight squeeze in Juan's Basement, but this leaner version of the band, touring in support of Broken Social Scene Presents Kevin Drew's Spirit If..., looks pretty comfortable down there. They do a sturdy version of the You Forgot It in People chestnut "Stars and Sons", sit for an interview where they talk booze, heat, and dietary supplements, and then return for an untitled jam. ...

Here's something that should interest most hardcore cinephiles. The first trailer for Charlie Kaufman's directorial debut titled Synecdoche, New York has debuted on Yahoo. The film stars Philip Seymour Hoffman as a theater director who, without going into the more complex details, decides to recreate his life as a theatrical play inside of an enormous abandoned warehouse. I've been told that this film is about Charlie Kaufman's fears put into themes and metaphors, but it's ...

Sorry for the late start today folks. You see, my girlfriend and I got in a fight last night over how I like my eggs cooked, and she, in a fit of rage, broke my interwebs. But I've pieced them back together and am ready to roll. So let's do this! Here's a video of a ninja cat that only approaches when the cameraman isn't looking. Stop the press! This just in - an enormous casting rumor for Captain America has just hit! Apparently Derek Luke, who stars in the upcoming Miracle at St. Anna, told MTV that "they offered Will Smith Captain America." You heard that right, apparently the latest superhero casting rumor to hit is that Will Smith is Captain America! This is very, very far from being official or confirmed, so just be sure you know that this ...

We’re pretty sure some type of “clarification” will be sent out shortly regarding the following statement from Michael Caine, but for now, it’s the first confirmation from someone involved in the Batman franchise about new villains and casting choices. And it’s HUGE. The ubiquitous rumors about Johnny Depp as The Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin will undoubtedly escalate after this. Here’s what Caine told MTV’s Splash Page… “I was with [a Warner ...

Yesterday we talked about how Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler was creating big buzz at the Venice Film Festival. The film has now been awarded the festival’s top prize, the Golden Lion. This is bitter sweet for Aronofsky, whose 2006 film The Fountain premiered at Venice and was met with lackluster reviews. I’ll be seeing the film tomorrow night at the Toronto International Film Festival premiere, so look out for my review on Monday morning. Related ...
