I saw this video on CodeSqueeze earlier today. Way too good not to share on a Friday. The video was produced by DevShop, which is a software project tracking application. DevShop looks interesting. Anyone have any experience with it? I am an architect and have been working with programs like Photoshop for years, but Spoonflower really opened up a new world for me: fabric design. It's a service that let's you upload an image to a web site and the company prints the design as a pattern on 100% cotton fabric. Their customer service is great, and I think the fabric is reasonably-priced: it costs $18/yard, not counting shipping, and an individual 8x8-inch swatch ...

Seems like everything you buy today needs power and you can never find an outlet when you need it. Sure, you can plug in a power strip or run extension cords from other nearby outlets, but that’s really just a band-aid that adds clutter. In response to this ever-growing need for places to plug things in, Leviton makes a triplex receptacle that can accept three plugs simultaneously. Their triplex receptacle fits in the standard-size wall ...

Alpheus: ‘Naked’ is the latest trend. The celebrity featured here, though, is a little different. It is a PC case that, for the first time, wouldn’t carry any panels. Antec’s skeleton case has a pyramid structure, with plastic arches and a robust rolled-steel base. Cooling, clearly, is a huge plus in this case, especially with the massive 250mm fan. The motherboard and drive trays can also be ejected with ease. Additional features include four drive ...

I always forget about the awesome DFL blog until right before the Olympics are over. The site keeps track of all the last place finishers during the Games. Here's the site's tagline: Celebrating last-place finishes at the Olympics. Because they're there, and you're not. China is leading with 8 last place finishes. (via matt's a.whole) (link)

One last time I want to grab a few quotes from one of the articles in One Church: A Bicentennial Celebration of Thomas Campbell’s Declaration and Address. This one, written by Greg Taylor editor of New Wineskins and coauthor (along with John Mark Hicks) of Down in the River to Pray: Revisioning Baptism as God’s Transforming Work, is entitled “The 21st Century Restoration — Will We Join It?” It’s a thoughtful, challenging piece. - - ...

Here's a heartbreaking story: A dog owner is asking the public to demand the recall of a chew toy after it caused an injury to their dog that required amputation of its tongue. On Sunday, June 22, 2008 my 10-year old lab mix, Chai, sustained a severe injury from a product that the company Four Paws Inc, produces. The toy I'm referencing is the pimple ball with bell. Originally posted in Long Now> Paper, it turns out, is a very reliable backup medium for information. While it can burn or dissolve in water, good acid-free versions of paper are otherwise stable over the long term, cheap to warehouse, and oblivious to technological change because its pages are "eye-scanable." No special devices needed. Well-made, well-cared for paper can last 1,000 years easily, and probably reach 2,000 without much extra trouble. We can not say ...

The idea of making public spaces more playful is the brainchild of artist Bruno Taylor. In this project, he modified several London bus stops with swings to brighten the day of busy commuters. Never mind the smell, the noise, or that dude rubbing up against you—a swing set at the bus stop would melt away all of the stress associated with public transportation. That is until you get a little too carried away with the ...

Microsoft Office Labs has launched a new product called E-mail Prioritizer that will not only sort through your in-box to figure out what's important, but also give you an honest-to-goodness pause button in case you want to escape an Exchange server e-mail avalanche. Users must be running the latest version of Outlook (2007), and for now the tool is PC-only. After installing it, you'll get a new toolbar menu option that lets you toggle on ...
