While China’s striking Olympic stadium and village currently houses the world’s greatest sporting event, it was only decided four years after construction began that the faux-bamboo-covered Beijing Olympic Basketball Gymnasium would become a future NBA China League arena. Following the trend of revamping the way tremendously expensive Olympic venues are originally designed so they can be transformed into usable facilities after the games finish, Kansas City Architect David Manica is charged with the retrofitting the ...

Sherri Davidoff wrote about what it was like to go through airport security without identification. The TSA kept telling her, “you need to have identification to pass through security,” but they eventually let her get on the plane. Here's here analysis of the experience: • Recall that to indicate that I required extra screening, staff wrote in red Sharpie on my boarding pass. If I had simply printed off a second boarding pass at home, ...

If you’ve bothered to look at the ads on Facebook lately (don’t worry, nobody else looks at them either), you might have noticed little thumbs-up and thumbs-down icons at the bottom of each ad. If you click on one of these, a box pops up asking why you liked or didn’t like the ad. This presumably will help Facebook target ads at you more effectively in the future. The ad-rating feature was quietly rolled at ...
