Knives scare the hell out of me. Sharpening knives is pretty much out of the question. I’m no Chao San Poi. But this fully-enclosed knife sharpener seems to be the key to precise cuts for those who only like to be near the blunt side of the blade. Some words from the designer, Adam Clark: “Eliminates the skill and safety concerns surrounding traditional knife sharpening equipment. The Sliding sharpening mechanism broadens the products capacity to ...

(more…)

Windows only: Free application MediaJoin—as its name suggests—combines several media files into one long file. Say, for example, you wanted to a three-part video or a live album into one long playable file. Just fire up MediaJoin, select the files you want to combine, and let the application do its work. MediaJoin can even string together files of different types, but be aware: doing so means transcoding files, which means you'll see some loss in ...

Stress and time management expert Mimi Donaldson says: We're hurried, we're harried, we've turned up the volume of our lives to such a high number that ...

Google's new Chrome web browser beta is getting a lot of attention for its slick looks, helpful features, and performance, but how does it rank against the early releases of more established browsers? We've previously put the major browser releases to the speed test, but today we're measuring Chrome against the second beta of Internet Explorer 8, as well as the beta of Firefox 3's next iteration, 3.1. We tested tomorrow's browsers on startup and ...
