That was fast, here is s1axter's how-to on getting the code off the Esquire E-ink's PIC... Find a PC with a pic assember on it.Get/borrow/make a ICSP programmer (parallel programmers will work, just lead out the Vdd,Vss,MCLR,CLK,DATA pins.Remove the battery since it is only 3v and most likely you will be using 5v.Hook up the programmer and read the HEX (Code protection is NOT enabled).Disassemble the code using your assembler of choice (mine is gpasm). ...

ABCNews says that more and more people who are facing foreclosure are just buying cheaper homes and then just walking away from their original mortgage. I picked up the Esquire E-ink'ed cover today and took a bunch of high res photos, you can find them here... a couple of the the low res ones are above. For the makers out there: It has a programming header, 5-pin ISP.It has a Microchip PIC 12f629 which is flash programmable, 8 pin.It has 6 lithium coin cell CR2016s, 3 volts each.There are 2 e-ink screens with flex connections (these are pricey connections).
