Meet Chrome, Google’s Windows Killer (115)

Make no mistake. The cute comic book and the touchy-feely talk about user experience is little more than a coat of paint on top of a monumental hatred of Microsoft. Chrome, the Webkit-based Google browser that launches tomorrow at Google.com/chrome, will give them a real foothold on the desktop and way more control over how web applications perform. They’ve built their own Javascript engine despite the fact that Webkit already has one. Is There A Recipe For Success In Mobile App Stores? (19)

Now that Apple has enjoyed some success with its App Store, smartphone manufacturers are starting to realize that having such a service is a worthwhile endeavor. Perhaps that’s why Microsoft’s new store for Windows Mobile 7, called Skymarket, leaked today. Close Encounters Of The Republican Kind: McCainSpace Relaunches (13)

Why is it that both political campaigns feel the need to have their own social networks. Barack Obama has my.barackobama.com and John McCain has McCainSpace, which just relaunched with a new design from KickApps after failing massively on its own. We Need To Kill The Business Card Once And For All (64)

The business card needs to die, and everyone knows it. They’re clumsy, easy to lose, and virtually useless as one of the last bits of information that we pass non-digitally (they kill trees, too).
