I've seen it before and I'm sure I'll see it again. Whenever a business cycle starts to falter, the media start wringing their hands. Then big businesses do, freelancers, entrepreneurs and soon everyone is keening. People and organizations that have no real financial stress start to pull back, "because it's prudent." Now is not the time, they say. They cut budgets and put off investments. It's almost as if everyone is just waiting for an ...Shared by Allison (17) Andreas (18) Andy Yates (16) Benjamin R (19) Carl Fyffe (15) Casey (20) Dan Sherman (1) dccrowley (8) doransky (30) DrBaher (21) Editweapon (4) Felfoldi (13) Fred (14) Hiten Shah (1) Jay (12) Jeff (7) Jeremy (14) jmather (18) Joseph (13) Kerray (20) marilink (25) Martin Polley (12) miguel lucas (21) Peter Wooley (6) Raphael Lullis (20) Rick Mahn (24) roborj (15) Ryan (18) Simon (13) Stewart Rogers (21) tarrask (26) wolfie toutomoutochan (14)- Stewart Rogers said: "Inc. magazine reports that a huge percentage of companies in this year's Inc. 500 were founded within months of 9/11. All customers are smarter than average (4)

In study after study, respondents rate themselves as less racist than average, smarter than average, more generous than average. And though they are never asked, I'm pretty certain that your customers also believe that they are righter than average as well. At the airport yesterday, a woman at security said to the TSA official, "I'm a regular traveler, a frequent flyer and I know the rules. I want the fast line." A moment later, it ...Contribute comment - Speakers - Google Docs(view only) (1)

There is a world of difference between the disciplined study of copywriting/persuasion, and the laughable royal road to riches pitched by most internet marketing “gurus.” The following website satirizes this “I’m-too-sexy” approach so well that it practically begs for a mock Wayne’s World-style “we’re not worthy.” Go ahead, treat yourself to a well-deserved belly laugh: http://www.thecop... TechCrunch (5546) permalink
Flypaper Studio, a startup that allows users to create flash-based web presentations without any programming experience, has closed a $3.5 million round of funding. The round was led by Sierra Ventures and SCF Arizona, and brings the company’s total funding to around $6.5 million. Flypaper behaves like a mix between Microsoft’s PowerPoint and Adobe Flash. Using a simple drag-and-drop interface, users can create interactive Flash-based presentations that are typically more engaging than standard PowerPoint slides. ...Shared by Editweapon (4) Hugo Amsellem (1) Jan (22) Kunal Ghate (13) Michał Wyrobek (4) noahp (15) ps1160 (0) webtime (321)Contribute comment -

We circle the on-call responsibility between all the programmers at 37signals. Every day is someone’s day to take care of the technical issues that bubble up from support but can’t be resolved there. And that seemed to work pretty well in the beginning, but we’re starting to think that we need a more systematic approach. The problem with passing the support monkey around is that everyone just wants to get rid of him as soon ...Shared by Aaron (20) adang001 (18) benfulton (6) Bryan Ray (0) Charles Thayer (0) Charles VIARD (41) Dr. Ernie (17) Editweapon (4) gfurry (17) j_b_f (0) joco (25) Jonathan (17) jonezy (4) Karl-Anders (0) Martin Gordon (24) Matt (0) Maurice Svay (7) Mike (23) Phil (15) Phillie Casablanca (18) Ron (23) Roy (18) Scott (0) Sean (13) Sunpech (10) timmow (0) Toby (8) Victor (40)Explore read four notesContribute comment -
