The Hell-Fire Caves (3)
on
Warren Ellis (77) permalink
This was a bit of a find, on the way home from the West Country the other weekend. An ancient cave system under a church that was extended and used for amusing and nefarious means by Sir Francis Dashwood, founder of the Hellfire Club. Hence their name today: the Hell-Fire Caves. Benjamin Franklin visited the Club’s underground space on at least one occasion for drinking, shagging and gorging. Though I imagine he found it hard ...- Ben said: "Also, that there is something wrong in my life, for I cannot repair to a secret cave to get shitfaced on a Thursday night" Amen.

Metallica Finally Realizes It Can’t Fight The Internet (4)
on
Silicon Alley Insider (547) permalink
Metallica is infamous for helping kill the original Napster, but it looks like the metal group has finally realized that they can't stop the Internet. Or at least they've figured out how to talk like that. Metallica's new album, 'Death Magnetic', leaked out onto the Internet a week before its scheduled release. But instead of resorting to lawsuits -- so far, at least -- drummer Lars Ulrich had this to say on a Bay Area ...- Ben said: Sorry Lars, too little, too late. You're part of the cabal that started the bullshit we live in today.

10 Awesome BlackBerry apps (28)

Filed under: Social Software, BlackBerryThe BlackBerry application marketplace might not be as easy to navigate at Apple's App Store and Java might not be as much fun as Cocoa Touch for developers, but there are still some great BlackBerry applications out there. 10 of my favorites: Opera Mini -- BlackBerry 4.5 is supposed to have a much-improved built-in browser (my carrier hasn't officially upgraded yet, so I'm unsure), but Opera Mini is a great alternative. ...Shared by Alvin A. Many people don't realize that rather than installing dozens of applications, you can control nearly any aspect of your computer with simple shortcuts that don't take up any resources. You can even take this approach a step further and assign shortcut keys using the built-in Windows hotkey functionality, or access them from the keyboard using your favorite application launcher.
