Mininova Adds Remote BitTorrent Downloads [BitTorrent] (71)
on Lifehacker (11709) permalinkPopular BitTorrent tracker Mininova has unveiled a new bookmarking feature that makes it easy to start a BitTorrent download on your home computer from anywhere. The new feature works by creating a personal RSS feed of all of your bookmarks. Since most popular BitTorrent clients support subscribing to an RSS feed of torrents, that means that each time you bookmark a torrent on Mininova, your BitTorrent client will automatically start downloading it. New Song : Men Without Pants (Russell Simins + Dan The Automator) : Double Life (2)
on My Old Kentucky Blog (16) permalinkDan The Automator and John Spencer Blues Explosion co-founder/drummer Russell Simins have announced a release date of August 19th for the debut full-length, entitled Naturally, for their project Men Without Pants. Simins handles some seriously rocking guitars, drums and vocals while Dan naturally handles the programming/electronics.Double Life isn't quite as funky, shimmy-shimmy-shake-shake as the previously released And The Girls Go. Search Read Items in Google Reader (91)

Hippopost Lets You Send Free Postcards From Facebook (29)

YouTube Is Turning Into a Shell Company (10)
on Mashable! (5710) permalinkI’ve been mulling over this revelation that AdAge and Silicon Alley Insider dropped on Monday regarding YouTube allowing the users to sell their own advertising. I keep going back to the leaked PDF and looking it over to see if there’s a hidden incentive built in somewhere. I keep looking at all the analysis to see if someone’s come up with the silver bullet theory that makes this somehow a good deal for producers. I ...Shared by ancameme (24) badboybob (20) Christopher Harley (9) Del (102) foxmachia (194) G Code (200) kcearns (66) Simon (26) Varun Mahajan (3) Vladimir Yashnikov (8)

OmniFocus On The iPhone: Think Where, Not When (28)
on Mashable! (5710) permalinkJust as I’ve finished my rant about the awesomeness of iPhone GPS, along comes a cool iPhone application to support my claims. Omnifocus for the iPhone has a simple, yet cool premise: it’s a location-aware task list. In other words, it doesn’t care so much about when you plan to do something, but where. Let’s say you plan to go on a gadget shopping spree. And, The Really Big Thing About The New iPhone Is… (37)
on Mashable! (5710) permalinkGPS. Geo-anything. Location based services. Now that the dust over the iPhone 3G launch has settled, it seems that people have divided into two camps; one is welcoming the new features, claiming that the perfect phone just got more perfect, while the other is nagging about the fact that other phones have had 3G for years now and that the new iPhone hasn’t really brought anything new - from a technical, hardware standpoint. - Jason said: A (relatively) hyperbole-free look at why the new iPhone is actually pretty interesting.
- DOCBook Howto said: The really big thing isn't GPS or 3G - it's the SDK that Apple has built around these things. I probably won't get the new iPhone unless I want to just try it, because it only adds these two features. The great thing about it though is that the new SDK allows location-aware services even without GPS! I'll be able to run the same GPS-aware apps on my old iPhone as I would on my new, and that's pretty cool.
- Henry Webb said: I don't think we can even envision what applications are going to be possible now that the iPhone has (a) GPS internally, and (b) a software development kit (SDK) allowing people to install applications natively on the iPhone. I can't wait to see!
- simplynutty said: I can't wait to make use of GPS enabled apps!

Not Sure Whether To Rent Or Buy? Check the Heat Map. (83)
on TechCrunch (11406) permalinkI can’t resist a good heat map, especially on real estate sites. HotPads, which brought us the foreclose heat map, now offers a handy rent ratio heat map.
