Signal vs. Noise (834) permalink
Labor Day recently passed. That means you may have received a shared photo album from a friend or relative. You know the type: It’s usually dozens (or hundreds) of shots of vacation fun. But you’re not into it. Now, it’s not that you don’t care; It’s fun to peek in and see what happened. But who wants to sort through a glut of 200 photos of someone else’s vacation (or baby photos or whatever)? What ...Shared by adang001 (9) Avi Flax (4) Ben Shoemate (23) Brian Monahan (2) dkastner (16) Elliott P. (19) gfurry (24) Graham (2) Greer Mitchell (5) J. J. I'll be doing good if I can get one good photo out of thirty-six.

People think you’re better than you are. It’s not that you became a brilliant photographer, it’s just that you started exercising taste and restraint

Governor Palin's speech at the Republican National Convention last night corresponded with a dramatic increase of tweets per second. This graph represents hourly update activity on Twitter over two days this week. Like hurricane Gustav on Monday, and Google's new browser launch on Tuesday, Palin's official nomination acceptance on Wednesday is another example of Twitter being used in real-time during a massively shared event. We continue to see increased activity during storms, earthquakes, breaking news, ...Shared by Andrew (1) Dan Kearns (29) Drew Olanoff (144) Evan Sims (46) Jeff (43) Jeremy Allen (42) kev (15) Matthew Bischoff (36) p/chuken (13) Rick Marshall (7) RJO (20) Shane (6) stealingsand (25) wizardElite (6)- Andrew said: Most of the tweets I read were pretty negative, e.g. "WTF is she talking about?!" :P

Guilty. I wrote another blogging engine. This one's command-line based and only for those willing to get HTML on their shirt. Writing a post looks like this: bin/new "This is the post's title" Write the post in the file it gives you bin/preview path/to/the/post Check it out in your favorite browser bin/publish path/to/the/post I rolled my own because I rather like the command line and rather dislike being h4x0red. Nearly everyone was surprised (not shocked, but surprised) over the weekend to find out that Google had been building its own browser for months now, named Chrome, slated for release today. The goal was ostensibly to rethink the typical web browser and build a new one from scratch designed to cater to the current and future generation of the web. No, that doesn't mean Web 3.0, and two demerits for even thinking that term. To ...Shared by kev (15) Matthew Bischoff (36)Contribute comment -
