Christian Anderson (a former colleague at Jobster) had an interesting (and well-researched) post on his blog called “How to Pitch Robert Scoble — HINT: No Direct Tweets“… , which led to a discussion on FriendFeed (with Robert himself weighing in) that was pretty interesting. I had a contribution bouncing around in my head but held off responding until I read an absolutely fabulous quote from one of my favorite books on marketing: ““No one ever ...Shared by Aditya (0) Lars Trieloff (1)Contribute comment -
7 Principles Of Clean And Optimized CSS Code (293)

Smashing Magazine (642) permalink
By Tony White Some of you may remember the days when 30KB was the recommended maximum size of a web page, a value which included HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash, and images. I find with every new project with even the slightest bit of complexity, it’s not long before that 30 KB ideal is well out of my reach. With the popularity of CSS layouts and JavaScript-enriched web page experiences, it’s not uncommon, particularly for large ...Shared by !&# (18) (jeff)isageek (48) Aaron Raddon (6) Adam Helweh (35) Adam Schoales (6) Aditya (0) AJ (170) akira (6) Alan (26) Alard (5) AlexT (4) alice_gar (0) Altuğ Orgun (7) Amit (14) Andrea (11) Andrew Cornett (1) Andrew Hughes (27) Andrew Jones (1) Andrey (16) Andy K. A couple of Getting Realish ideas spotted in Best Life magazine: Greg Gianforte is the author of “Bootstrapping Your Business: Start and Grow a Successful Company With Almost No Money.” In Follow Your Dream, he advises throwing out your five-year plan and focusing on building something now instead. Gianforte describes how to build a company from sales rather than enlisting professional financiers. The secret is to stop sweating your five-year plan and start moving the ...Shared by Aditya (0) Adrian (1) Bruce (3) Cem (2) cheeming (15) Chris (16) chrisco (1) cvander (5) Dave "Blakice" Matthews (0) djworth (3) Dr. Ernie (52) etlund (5) gort581 (29) Hashim (18) Jaron (5) John (11) Jon (19) jonezy (5) JonMoss-theappleofmyi (30) Joseph Rodgers (13) Joshua Wilde (1) Juvenn (12) kev (3) Kevin Gilbert (0) koke (6) Malte Goesche (0) marshall (12) Matt (1) Matt (2) Matt Southworth (14) Nick Campbell (5) ntutak (12) Ron (9) ScorpFromHell (8) Sebastian (0) SengMing (9) slmnhq (8) smoothcriminal (0) theCan (1) Tim (27) Tom (2) Unity (1) voidfiles (11) William Spaetzel (44) wyclif (13) yangyang42 (1)Explore read five notes- Kevin Gilbert said: Good stuff.

I got to see his philosophy in action when he was first getting started. He recruited me to help him build up the PERL (programming language) KB so he could 'give it' to the community and get some more people using the system. It seems to have worked! As luck would have it, the next week we found out R was pregnant and we moved to Helena so I didn't get in on that one.

I was in a three-hour meeting yesterday. I’m meeting averse, you know that. But one of the things I liked about this meeting was when the guy in charge stopped someone mid-sentence and said “Don’t say everyone or no one. It doesn’t mean anything.” We all do this. We try to justify our position by saying “No one knows…” or “Everyone knows…” or some derivative thereof. When you throw around these extremes you weaken your ...Shared by Abhilash (17) adang001 (6) Aditya (0) Alan (16) Andrew Ruess (97) Chris (34) Christophe Maximin (12) David (14) Dr. Ernie (52) Dylan Thomas (2) Elliott P. I recently came across an article in Entrepreneur magazine that talks about startup hiring mistakes. I don't know Brad Sugars (the author), but he's a columnist at Entrepreneur magazine and has written 14 books. I also was a bit put-off by the statement "the good thing is that there are some hard and fast rules startups ...Shared by Aditya (0) AJ (170) atul (73) cmm324 (6) Eric (46) Just Mohit (19) pseudoTechie (15) rachna (6) Ranvir (0) RLivsey (7) spsneo (8)Contribute comment -

One of the major issues hindering the growth of many Web services today is that users are not willing to pay. We don't want to pay for using their service, we don't want to pay for content, and we usually don't want to see or click through ads. Yet, free services, like Twitter, Google Reader, or any other Web activity aggregator have a cost of creating an infrastructure to support user growth.
